Anchor Smart Journal · Last updated 26 July 2026
Anchor is a personal focus journal. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. Anchor is designed to hold as little of your data as possible, to keep the most sensitive things on your device only, and to never sell your data or use it for advertising.
Account
Your email address, used to create and secure your account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we also receive the display name your provider shares.
Your content
The things you create in the app: journal entries, tasks, daily aims, focus windows and sessions, abstain limits, goals, and weekly reviews. This content is private to your account and is never shown to anyone else.
Photos — on your device only
Photos you add to Share Your Day are stored in your browser or phone's local storage and never leave your device. We cannot see them. Saving or sharing a finished card is always something you do yourself.
App blocking (iPhone) — invisible to us
The App Blocker uses Apple's Screen Time technology. You choose apps in Apple's own picker, and iOS gives Anchor only opaque references — we never learn which apps you selected, and the selection never leaves your phone. Block timing and the seal code live on your device only.
Dictation
If you use the microphone, speech is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition on iPhone or your browser's speech service on the web. We store only the final text you choose to keep, as part of your content.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we store the message and any screenshot you choose to attach, so we can respond and improve the app.
Diagnostics
We use Sentry to collect crash and error reports (device model, OS version, and the technical details of a fault) so we can fix problems. This is used only to keep the app working and is not linked to advertising.
We use a small set of trusted service providers strictly to run the app. They process data on our instructions and are bound to protect it:
We keep your content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete account), your account and associated content are removed. Diagnostic reports are retained only as long as needed to investigate issues.
Anchor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
